Well It's been another week. I've been trying not to text or call the recruiter everyday, but idle hands got the best of me today. Unfortunately no answer! Meanwhile I started work back at the ER. 3 weeks back and already charging! Its been a fun few weeks of orientation, but tommorro will be my first Solo run! I can honestly say that the COVID has really increased the stress of working healthcare! This too will pass! Ok back to waiting hope to have some good news soon!

Next Step Just Wait

Well once you've finished your packet all that's left is too wait! Better get good at it!  Today I'm going on 2.5 Months of wait time! Too be upfront my finger prints have been bouncing around holding up my packet. I know this is a special issue, but I've also been in the army for 22 years. Oh and I have an active clearance that gets checked every dayish!!  OOH SAWW.. It will be worth the wait! On another issue if your just starting, once your packet has cleared the first, second, third QC , then its off to the Board. The board meets twice a year and according to the recruitment numbers you will be either selected, OMLd, or non selected. This will drive what happens next. For me I was selected pending fingerprint approvals! see where this goes!!

Required Documents

Here is the list of required documents directly from the Recruiter. I established a folder corresponding  to the list and started  knocking these out. It took a minute but slowly I finished the list. (Note: for Prior service in the Reserves, that 368 takes forever, so start with anticipation of the start date beginning  around the board time. That way as soon as you are selected it is waiting and available. I was able to get an o56 to sign which allowed me to board, but each state has a G1 which requires the TAG or Generals signature for release.)FYI I'm  still waiting on mine         1. SS Card 2. CV Resume  3. Official Transcripts from all Universities attended                 4. Statement of Motivation (EXAMPLE ATTACHED)                     5. DA 4572-Statement of Understanding...

From the beginning

So you wanna Direct Commission as a Nurse in the Army, Step 1: google direct commission and find every blog about how long the process is!  Haha, OK lets take this back a notch and provide a little context to the story. Currently I'm enlisted in the Army National Guard, and work as a ER nurse on the civilian side. In total I have about 6 years as an RN and 15 as a paramedic. I've served in the Army National Guard for 22 years and have recently finished my 7th deployment. I carry a ton of experience; however my MOS (military job) is combat arms. While I enjoy the excitement of Grunt Life, I am very passionate about Nursing and enjoy every minute of it (Love hate relationship!). I recently started down the retirement track and have come to the realization that I have 17 years before I can draw from the National Guard! So I decided to take a leap and go to the Dark Side (Officer World).  Currently, I was selected as 66T(ER Nurse) awaiting confirmation from the recruiter to ...
